About Plastic Grits (Shot Blasting)

Syncplasticgrit(TM) media is utilized where a controlled, gentle and non-abrading action, damage or etching of the underlying substrate is required. The low hardness and specific gravity of Syncplasticgrit(TM) makes it ideally suited in the most sensitive of applications. Syncplasticgrit can be used in both dry and wet compressed air assisted blasting equipment and is effective at very low blasting pressures, ensuring no damage to the component being blasted, Syncplasticgrit(TM) is pre-treated with an anti-static agent to prevent adhesion to the component when used in dry compressed air assisted blasting process to avoid wastage.

Its high durability and irregular particle shape ensures maximum productivity and abrasive life when utilized in equipment having recycling and reclassification facilities. Syncplasticgrit(TM) is highly suited for flash removal from discreet computer components, paint removal or cleaning of soft or easily damageable substrates such as aluminum, silver, copper or gold.

Key Features of Plastic Grits

Plastic Grits offer high recyclability, low chloride and ash content, and negligible moisture. Their customizable grit size, shape, and color accommodate specific project requirements. Odorless and dust-free, these grits improve working environment safety, while batch-wise QC ensures product consistency. This blasting media provides a practical solution for applications requiring gentle yet effective surface treatment.

Applications in Diverse Industries

Primarily used in automotive, aerospace, and metal fabrication settings, plastic grits efficiently remove paint, clean surfaces, and deburr components. Their low hardness prevents substrate damage, making them ideal for maintenance and restoration tasks where precision is crucial. With custom packaging and bulk supply, they suit both small workshops and large-scale operations.

Handling and Storage Guidelines

Plastic grits are supplied in robust HDPE bags or jumbo sacks. To preserve their quality, ensure the media is stored dry and sealed, preventing moisture absorption. Since they are odorless and possess a long shelf life, these grits are cost-effective for facilities with intermittent or year-round use. Always use appropriate blasting equipment and adhere to manual control systems for optimal results.

FAQs of Plastic Grits (Shot Blasting):

Q: How are plastic grits used in shot blasting applications?

A: Plastic grits are employed in shot blasting equipment to remove paint, clean surfaces, and deburr components. They are loaded into the blasting machine, which propels the grits against the workpiece, ensuring thorough cleaning or finishing without harming the underlying material.

Q: What benefits do plastic grits offer over traditional abrasive blasting media?

A: Plastic grits are non-abrasive, dust-free, and reusable, making them ideal for delicate surfaces or components that must not be damaged. Their high recyclability and low residue also minimize waste and handling, making operations more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Q: When should plastic grits be selected instead of metal or mineral blasting media?

A: Plastic grits are best chosen when the application demands gentle cleaning or finishing, such as with aluminum, composites, plastics, or painted surfaces in the automotive and aerospace industries. They are also preferable where substrate preservation and non-conductivity are necessary.

Q: Where can these plastic grits be sourced and in what packaging options?

A: Plastic grits can be acquired directly from exporters, manufacturers, suppliers, or traders in India. They are available in 25 kg to 50 kg HDPE bags or larger jumbo sacks, providing flexibility for different operational scales.

Q: What is the typical process for using plastic grits in maintenance or restoration?

A: The process involves selecting the appropriate grit size and shape, loading them into a shot blasting machine, and manually operating the system to treat the target surface. After use, the grits can often be recycled multiple times before disposal.

Q: What are the advantages of the high recyclability of plastic grits?

A: High recyclability allows multiple use cycles, significantly reducing consumable costs and waste generation. This feature supports sustainable operations and enhances cost efficiency for both occasional and regular surface preparation activities.
